Despite the apparent overwhelming dependence of tourism on climatic factors, it is surprising that, in spite of the economic significance of the Tourism Industry, literature on the economic implications of climate change has been dominated by other sectors. This paper aims to evaluate the new body of knowledge that has tried to fill with this gap in the literature of the economic effects of climate change showing the alternatives to evaluate quantitatively climate change consequences on tourism. The review is made by showing the results that rise from a triple point of view. First considering the changes in environment attributes determining tourism demand; second analyzing tourist attractiveness through climatic indexes; and third examining tourism demand models including climatic variables. Results suggests that, although some methodologies are on a primary stage of development, the analysis from the different perspectives agree in presenting a similar map of the main affected areas in terms of tourism demand and/or tourism attractiveness although some differences in the interpretation remain.
