The present research analyzes  entrepreneurship literature in the field of the Hospitality and Tourism Management in order to obtain a clear picture of its progress and limitations and also, to obtain a conceptual framework of topics researched in the binomial tourism & entrepreneurship. In tourism research, entrepreneurship - as  business gestation- has not yet been treated as a process that merits close examination (Zhao & Brent Ritchie, 2011)  and research production is, hence, limited both in number and scope and it becomes necessary to evaluate the context in which the concept is used. The second part of the paper focuses on the potential gaps between the literature on tourism entrepreneurship and the areas of interest regarding knowledge from the practitioners's perspective in entrepreneurship (junior and senior entrepreneurs ). In particular, the investigation addresses the topic in terms of knowledge needs and prospective insights of practitioners (entrepreneurs in innovative IT-based tourism companies) regarding entrepreneurship.
